The Civil Work We Take On
Our civil work covers the ground stage of a project, from first cut through to finished level.
- Bulk earthworks and site cuts, shifting material to design levels across subdivisions, industrial pads and larger residential blocks. We cut, place and compact in the one operation rather than handing the fill stage to someone else.
- Drainage and service trenching, including stormwater runs, pit excavations and conduit trenches. Trench dimensions follow the design, and we backfill and compact to the specified requirement.
- Access tracks, hardstands and laydown areas for sites that need a working surface before construction starts. We build these to carry the plant and deliveries the project actually expects, not a generic standard.
- Detailed excavation around footings, services and existing structures, where machine size and operator control matter more than raw capacity. We match the machine to the access rather than forcing the largest one on site.

Frequently Asked Questions
Site preparation usually covers clearing vegetation and debris, stripping topsoil, cutting to design level and compacting the resulting surface. Drainage and access are often built at the same stage, since both need to be in place before other trades can work safely.
Poorly compacted fill settles over time, which shows up later as cracked slabs, uneven pavement and drainage that no longer falls the right way. Compacting in layers as the fill is placed is what prevents it, and it can't be corrected properly once the material is already in the ground.
Cut is material excavated from the higher part of a site, and fill is material placed on the lower part to bring it up to level. Balancing the two on site reduces how much has to be carted in or away, which is usually the single biggest cost variable on a sloping block.
